Today, I wasn't in the mood to do more rigging. I thought I'd lay down some base coats to Steelhooves so I could tell which areas needed to move. I also recently bought a monthly subscription to MARI Indie on Steam. Basically, it allows me to paint HQ textures on models. IT's something I can do already, but it specializes in it.
I spent several hours trying to figure out why the UVs I was seeing in Maya weren't coming into Mari during an FBX update. Tried troubleshooting for hours. What was it you ask? I somehow managed to create a second UV set in Maya and forgot about the first one. So it was using my old UVs...
Anyway, that hurdle (and UVs are done on the front).
I was slopping down a base coat. I tried matching a source image I found for some colors, but I think the armor is too light. Thoughts?

3D Modeling on iPad
I was on a much needed vacation this week, but had the desire to model. I discovered a tool called Shapr3D which allows you a unique modeling workflow if you have an iPad and Apple Pencil. I’ve created a time lapse demonstrating the tool.
If sculpting is more your thing, Forger is a $5 option that I’m trying out with some success.
P.A.B.S. Episode 1 - Attributed Work
If you haven't seen the episode yet, see it below. It's been a long road. While certain critiques can be applied from a single-artist or even multi-artist context, I would argue that for the vision and complexity of a studio of freelancers, this is a solid first step. I am proud to be a member of the project, and I hope that all the lessons we have learned over the years and post-release will make the next one ever so sweeter.
Here's some of the stuff I had a major part in:
Also, model compiling (base of Button Mash and Zecora) and texture work for these two models:
I can be attributed to other smaller stuff, but these are what I am pro
Howdy Folks
It's been a while. I've been reliving the glory days of taking on a project that might or might not be too much to chew on, and I had a bit of nostalgia. That and I'm a bit in the dumps I had to miss both Bronycon AND Ponyville Ciderfest due to lack of funds (oh the joys of moving out of a cheap room into a $1000/month apartment on government salary...) My life's been a bit of a mess due to work and a few senior people retiring. I've lost my fearless leader, and have to contend selling myself to VPs who wish (my role) was not necessary.
Despite all that, the 60-80hrs a week I work, etc, I am still doing things. I just don't make them pu
Just some models I've been working on.
Reupload because materials were being a butt. These models were made by me in Maya and Substance Painter. Models are property of P.A.B.S. and cannot be released. Models demoed with explicit permission.
